Mabel went into the hospital in a daze. The truck driver had been taken to the police station, while Luther was still in surgery. Due to the previous internal bleeding in his brain and now the impact from the car accident, his condition was extremely critical. One wrong move, and he could lose his life. Ten hours later, the surgery was finally over. Mabel hadn't moved from her spot outside the operating room the entire time. She hadn't so much as closed her eyes or had anything to eat or drink. All she could think about was Luther. If anything happened to him, she wasn't sure she would be able to go on without him. When the operating room lights dimmed and the doors opened, Mabel dashed forward, crying out in a panic, "Doctor, is he okay?" She trembled from head to toe, her clothes still stained with blood.
