Chapter 29
The elevator stopped in the obstetrics and gynecology ward on the twelfth floor. Gabriella changed into a white coat and began her routine rounds. She passed by Rafaella’s room, and she overheard her complaining to her nurse.
“When exactly can I get out of this stupid place?” she yelled at the nurse. “How long do you want me to live in this ghost place? I don't like it here.”
“Mrs. Borton, we need to observe you for a few more days before we can safely permit your discharge from the hospital,” the nurse patiently explained.
“If I stay here long enough, will it make my child alive again? Or will it make me get pregnant again?”
The sound of porcelain crashing accompanied her loud roar. Gabriella sighed. She pushed the door to the room and walked in.
The broken porcelain made a mess on the floor.
“Rafa, stop being a child," she calmly said. "You need to face the reality. Your child is gone, and it was your fault. If you took care of yourself and had yourself checked before it got worse, w
