Gabriella nodded, and a bitter smile stretched her lips.
What had Izaak been doing all this time? Why did he make her feel special to him if he couldn't let go of his ex-lover?
What was she to him? A pastime?
“I knew you would say that,” Gabriella said, eyes hooded with pain. She turned around and walked out, but Izaak grabbed her arm.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
“Work,” curtly, she responded.
“It’s too early. You haven’t eaten breakfast.”
Gabriella swooped her piercing eyes at him, stilling him in his place. “I can take care of myself," she said in a low and menacing voice.
She pushed his hand away and dashed for the door. 'Don't cry, Gabby,' she told herself as she turned her back on Izaak. 'Do not cry.'
Gabriella slammed the door, submerging Izaak in a suffocating silence after. He then went downstairs and settled in the living room.
Gabriella was long gone, and she had taken with her Izaak’s peace when she left.
