Chapter 24

During dinner at the Samson residence, Katrina kept piling food onto Vanessa's and Blake's plates. She urged them to eat more as they seemed to have lost a lot of weight during their trip. Later, as the group sat on the couch chatting, the sound of a car engine shutting off came from outside. Moments later, Finn opened the door and greeted respectfully. "Mr. Samson, you're back. Shall I have dinner served now?" Harris handed his coat to Finn and said there was no need, but as he was about to continue, he noticed Vanessa and Blake standing up to leave. He wanted to say something, but Katrina beat him to it by persuading them to stay the night. "It's so late already. Why not stay here? I've had your room cleaned and ready for you at any time." Vanessa declined politely and explained that they had returned in a rush, so many things at home still needed to be done. Katrina was about to insist further when she turned and saw Harris walking toward them. "Where have you been so late?"
