Chapter 259

Giselle didn't stay in the hospital room for long before Harper returned. "Where is Mr. Frankie?" Giselle first took a look behind Harper, not finding the person in question, she asked. Harper replied nonchalantly, "Mr. Frankie has his own matters to attend to." Giselle's gossiping instincts kicked in, "After I left with Maverick, what did you two talk about?" Removing her glasses from her face, Harper replied casually while wiping them, "We didn't talk." "Didn't talk?" Giselle was beyond disappointed, "Then didn't the opportunity I created go to waste?" Putting her glasses back on, Harper turned to Giselle, "I have to start work in the afternoon. I'm heading back to the dorm to shower and change clothes now, do you want to come with me?" Giselle nodded, "Wait for a bit, come accompany me with my rehab later." "Alright." Both of them headed towards the dorm. While Harper was taking her shower, Giselle sat on her small bed. How luxurious could a two-person dorm possibly be? Even though it had everything necessary, there was no privacy or space... Temporary stay was bearable, but it was definitely unsuitable for permanent residence. It was terribly suffocating! After Harper had finished her shower and came out, Giselle told her, "The key that I gave you last time, move in there. You'll be helping me maintain the house. No one is living there, and the furniture is quickly deteriorating." Having finished speaking, and fearing another difficult refusal from Harper, Giselle said, "You've seen it too. My relationship with Maverick is now quite stable, and I barely live in that house anymore. I can't bear to rent it out either, so why don't you live there?" Having no choice in the end, Harper nodded and said, "I will move there in a few days." The two left the dormitory and went to the rehabilitation room of the hospital. Giselle's injuries were not severe, so she could do some simple movements today under the guidance of a dedicated doctor. The movements were very simple, like taking off her sling and swinging her arm. But each time, it hurt like a thief. Giselle hissed in pain with each breath, wishing she could bite Steward to death. She and Harper had suffered too much because of him. Although Harper didn't show much emotion now, Giselle knew that her heart had been badly torn and was still raw and bleeding. She just hid it well. Harper had always been like this. Once she accepted something, she would suppress all her emotions. No matter the pain, she would only keep it in her heart to digest. On the night when her grandmother passed away, Harper cried herself unconscious. But by the day of the funeral, there was no sign of sorrow on her face. She dealt with her grandmother's affairs calmly. At that time, she had told Giselle, "Giselle, I have no way back. I have no choice but to move forward and I don't even have time to grieve. If I can't hold on, who will handle our grandmother's funeral? If I'm too fragile, she probably won't rest in peace." With no support behind her, she was heading forward alone. So, even when Steward betrayed her, and they broke up. A decade of feelings finally came to nothing. Such a tragic event, and she only allowed herself to indulge in her emotions for one night. The following day, she had to get back to serious work. Giselle did her rehabilitation exercise for 15 minutes. As it was just the beginning, she couldn't do it for too long. After retying her shoulder strap, she went back to the ward. For lunch, she and Harper ate in the hospital cafeteria. After the meal, Harper went to work. Giselle was back in her ward with nothing to do but playing with her phone. Upon opening WhatsApp, she realized that she had missed a message that was sent the day before. The message was from Andrew, whom she could now consider as a friend. "Quite capable, you, ruining my business." Then, "How is it going? I heard from Kendrick. Things are quite miserable for you guys." Those two messages came quite early. "Giselle, keep your man in check. Do you think it's easy for me to make some money? He had all my men arrested. Is he trying to make my money go down the drain?" "For your sake, Belinda, I won't retaliate. I'll just let my cameramen spend a few days in custody as a lesson, but ask Maverick to release them, will you?" Lastly, "Did you die?" These were from last night. Upon reading the last message, Giselle directly rolled her eyes and responded, "You're dead, and here I am, alive and well." She tossed her phone aside after replying. A while later, a message from Andrew came in. "Are you in the hospital?" Giselle, "How did you know?" Andrew said, "I think I just saw you. Did you break your arm?" "No." "I am at my grandfather's place. Are you coming to see us or should I come to see you?" Finally, Giselle visited Mr. Hyland's upstairs ward. She was initially hesitant, fearing that it might worry Mr. Hyland. But now, with Andrew's big mouth, there was no doubt that Mr. Hyland had been informed. Giselle's ward and Mr. Hyland's were in different buildings. When she arrived, she saw Mr. Hyland sitting in a wheelchair. Upon seeing her enter with her arm in a sling, he couldn't help but shake his head. "You... you..." He seemed utterly helpless. It was only when Giselle walked in that she noticed that Amira was also there. Amira looked at Giselle's expression, her eyebrows furrowed briefly before she turned her face away, speaking to Andrew, "You take up your matter with your brother." It seems Andrew had intentionally snitched on Maverick to Amira just now. Now, looking at Giselle with a smirk, he said, "Isn't my cousin's wife here? My cousin listens to her the most. Talking to her is the same." His words left Amira speechless and choked, leaving her with nothing to retort. In the end, she mumbled, "I'll leave first." After Amira left, the atmosphere in the room eased significantly. Giselle chatted with Daniel Hyland for a while, until Andrew mentioned needing to discuss something with her and called her out. Giselle thought it was about the photographer, thinking, 'Is such a trivial matter really that important to him?' Who would have thought that it wasn't! Andrew brought up Gloria. Honestly, it had been so long since Giselle heard this name, she was a little taken aback when she heard it. Andrew said, "I received a call from Peipei yesterday, she was crying and sounded distraught. She isn't doing well." "Why should I care about how she's doing? Why are you telling me this?" Giselle rolled her eyes at him. Andrew’s voice sounded serious and solemn, "Peipei wants to come back, but she's afraid to." "Huh!" Upon hearing this, Giselle couldn't help but sneer. This was more amusing. It was none of her damn business. Then, Andrew said, "Gloria said that she had offended you too many times in the past, and now that you have power and status, she fears you will retaliate." 'Retaliate?' This word was interesting. Giselle looked at Andrew, "Do you believe what that white lotus has said?" Andrew didn't say whether he believed or not. He only said, "I want Grace to come back. Can you, considering my face, give her a call…" "I cannot!" Before Andrew could finish, he was directly interrupted by Giselle. "I won't make the call, but you can pass on a message to her. I do bear ill will against her. If she dares to come back, I will deal with her." After speaking, Giselle completely lost the patience to say another word to Andrew, she straightway went downstairs. To think, she used to regard Andrew as a decent person. Ts~This guy is a complete ninny. Giselle bowed her head instantly, not even bothering to respond anymore. She walked out of the building, heading towards her own. Halfway through, she suddenly stopped. The approaching figures were quite familiar.
