Rather than tormenting himself any longer, Judd simply bought the earliest plane ticket he could. By the time Maverick arrived, Giselle was already asleep, and Little 97, along with the nanny, were soundly asleep in the nursery. Initially, he hadn't planned on waking Giselle; he simply wanted to hold her and sleep. But her scent was so intoxicating that it made him unable to resist. He reached out and began to caress her. Now that Giselle was awake, Maverick didn't want to waste any time. As he spoke, he started to unbutton her nightgown. Initially, Giselle had been pleased when Maverick said he missed her. But seeing his urgency now, she caught his wandering hand and humphed, looking none too pleased. "Do you miss me, or do you just want to sleep with me?" she asked. Maverick replied, "I miss you."
