Chapter 29
Alexander's POV
The car pulled into the hospital parking lot, and I quickly found a spot. Making my way to the psychologist’s office, I knocked before entering.
"Mr. Alexander Hawthorne, Miss Blackwood’s session is over. Her condition hasn’t improved—it's actually gotten worse. I just gave her a sedative to help her sleep."
I listened, my face grim. "I understand."
"Mr. Hawthorne, I need to stress how serious this is. Miss Blackwood was showing significant improvement not long ago, but in the past two days, things have taken a sharp turn. There's a real risk she could spiral into severe depression, and that would be much harder to treat."
"Mm," I nodded.
Isabella’s condition had worsened after she found out about my marriage.
I walked to her bedside, looking at her pale face, a wave of guilt washing over me.
She had once been so lively and full of life, but now—because of me—she was suffering, caught in a dark place of psychologic
