Chapter 27 Nothing Lasts Forever
Abigail blinked dizzily as the man pulled her to her feet and nudged her toward the fruit platter.
He took her vacated seat beside Talia, but he politely kept a respectful distance. It was close enough for him to speak to her without raising his voice, but not so close as to make her uncomfortable.
The intro to the song began.
A young Evelyn Shaw appeared on the screen. Her face was still a bit round, and her large eyes were full of spirit and clarity.
Talia's looks weren't the kind that would leave people breathless at first glance, but she was delightful to look at—graceful, gentle, and refined.
As Abigail once put it, seeing her made one feel like all was right with the world.
