The private jet touched down in the city with barely a jolt, but the silence between us was heavy.
Logan sat across from me, eyes glued to the window, fingers tapping his knee in an uneven rhythm. His phone buzzed every few minutes—messages, updates, pressure. I didn’t ask. I just sat with Lily, holding her close while she clutched her teddy bear and leaned into my side.
She didn’t ask questions either. But I could tell she was picking up on all of it—Logan’s tension, my worry, the silence that should’ve been filled with reassurance.
