Chapter 95
“Lily!” someone shouted.
Logan’s voice broke through the noise like thunder.
I turned, heart in my throat, and saw her—tiny, helpless—sinking under the water in the pool at the edge of the ballroom.
“Lily!” I screamed.
Logan ran like lightning, his jacket flying behind him. He jumped in without a second thought. Water splashed everywhere.
I followed, stumbling in my heels, hands shaking. Everything else faded—the music, the people, even the shame from earlier.
“Move!” I shouted, pushing past people. “Get out of the way!”
Logan lifted Lily out of the water. Her little arms clung to his neck. She was coughing, crying. Wet and scared.
“She’s okay,” Logan whispered, holding her tightly. “She’s breathing.”
“Oh, thank God,” I gasped, dropping to my knees beside them. I reached out, brushing Lily’s wet hair from her face. “Baby, you’re okay. You’re okay.”
Lily looked at me, wide-eyed, her lower lip trembling. “Aunt Haley…”
“I’m here,” I whispered. “You’re safe. It’s over now.”
