Lily stood hidden behind a wall, her heart pounding like drums in her chest. The street was quiet; only the sound of wind and distant cars filled the air. She peeked out once more, her breath fogging in the cold night. The black car was still there. It didn't move. No lights. Just sitting there like some predator waiting for her to make a move. She gritted her teeth and tightened her grip on her clothes. She wasn't going to be afraid. Not now. Not again. She waited a little longer, and then, after convincing herself it might just be a parked car, she stepped out from the shadows slowly. But before she could take more than two steps...
