DOMINIC’S POV
I stood outside Olivia’s door for what felt like an eternity. My hand hovered above the doorknob, but I never knocked. The cool night air brushed against my skin, and for once, I didn’t feel like an Alpha. I felt… pathetic.
She had tossed a hundred-dollar bill at me like I was some common escort—like I meant nothing.
Is that what I am to her now? Just a body?
The moment flashed in my mind again. The soft flutter of that note landing on the sheets, her eyes cold and unreadable. My heart clenched in my chest, each beat a fresh stab of humiliation.
“I can’t believe she did that to us,” I muttered aloud.
“You deserved that,” my wolf snapped, though his voice wasn’t filled with cruelty—it was calm, too calm. “But you’re letting your ego speak now, not your heart.”
