Chapter 33 The Lies We Wear
Caitlyn's POV
After being rescued, I clung to Raymond like glue. He wore his usual cold expression, but I couldn't ignore his bright red ears as I threw my arms around him.
"You've been acting weird lately," Raymond said flatly. There was an unsettling tension in his voice.
I shook my head. "No, I haven't."
Raymond’s stare turned icy. *Don’t lie to me again, Caitlyn,* his silence seemed to warn.
The moment he left, I burst into laughter. The thought of stoic, serious Raymond playing along with this ridiculous act was just too much. I buried my face in the blankets, shaking with laughter, until I sat up—and found him standing there, his face dark.
"You knew," he said. I shook my head and hugged him. He held me tight like he was terrified I'd disappear.
"Why do you want to keep me here?" I asked. "Have you ever wondered how I feel about it?"
