Chapter 1158
Tilly suddenly jumped up and rushed into Melanie's arms. "Mrs. Laurier, save me!"
Before Melanie could react, Lily was already in front of her.
"Mommy, I'm sorry..." Before Tilly could finish her sentence, she was lifted off the ground. Then came a sharp crack. Her little arm was dislocated.
Tilly lowered her head, no longer feeling the pain. All she could do was regret not running away sooner.
"Didn't I tell you not to use aphrodisiacs recklessly?" Lily asked, her expression blank.
Tilly blinked her big eyes innocently. "Mommy, I didn't use it recklessly. I used it on you and Daddy."
"Are you trying to justify yourself?" Lily narrowed her eyes.
Tilly immediately apologized. "I'm sorry, I won't do it again. Mommy, please fix my arm. I can't eat if it's like this."
"Stay hungry," Lily replied coldly. "You can eat when your mind is clear."
Tilly sighed silently. It looked like it was another day of being disciplined by Lily.
Melanie, seeing this, immediately lost her temper.
She screamed, "Oh no! Tilly, your arm... Lily, hurry and fix her arm! She's still so young. How could you do this to her?"
Seeing what was happening, Stefan added, "Yes, Tilly is still just a child. Education should be gradual, not rushed. If you're really angry, you could have her stand in the corner as punishment, but you can't dislocate her arms or legs. She's so small. How can she possibly endure that?"
Hearing someone stand up for her, Tilly couldn't stop the smile from spreading across her face. Having backup really felt great.
Meanwhile, Toby shook his head. Melanie and Stefan still didn't know enough. Soon, they'd realize how big of a mistake they made by defending Tilly today.
Lily was left speechless.
Was there any other woman whose mother-in-law meddled in the child's education? And yet, she couldn't bring herself to stand up to Melanie.
Seeing that Lily wasn't responding, Melanie pulled her aside and asked earnestly, "Are you upset about Tilly locking you two in the room last night? That was my fault. I didn't prepare a towel for you. Tilly is still so young, and she really wanted to reconnect with her father, so she came up with this idea."
She glanced back at Tilly and continued, "Although the method wasn't the best, she did it for your own good, didn't she? Just think about it. Last night..."
Melanie chuckled. "Wasn't it pretty harmonious?"
Lily was left utterly speechless.
How did Melanie become so gossipy after five years?
"Just don't hold it against her for my sake," Melanie added.
Seeing that Lily still didn't respond, Melanie grew anxious and pulled out her trump card. "I'm telling you now, I won't allow anyone to hurt my precious granddaughter—not even you. If you hurt her again, I'll be really mad at you."
Lily rubbed her temples, feeling utterly helpless. "I understand."
"Does that mean you'll fix her arm?" Melanie asked cautiously.
"Yes," Lily said, then went straight to fix Tilly's arm.
As soon as Tilly's arm was fixed, she immediately rushed into Melanie's arms and started crying. "Mrs. Laurier, I'm so glad to have you. You have no idea how hard it's been for me..."
She wiped her snot and tears all over Melanie's clothes. "No one understands the struggles I go through, having to live under Mommy's shadow every day."
"My little darling, you're so pitiful. Don't cry. I'll spoil you from now on."
Lily gave Tilly a sidelong glance, too tired to say anything.
Hopefully, Melanie wouldn't regret her actions today.
