Chapter 1184
"Hmph!" Manfred snorted and stood up. "No money, no treatment. I'm not wasting my time on people like you."
With that, he turned to leave.
Toby quickly blocked his path. "Wait a moment!"
"Move!" Manfred reached out to push Toby aside, but no matter how hard he tried, the boy didn't budge an inch.
Manfred's brows furrowed, his voice turning icy. "You little brat, get out of my way."
At that moment, the shop owner finally recognized Toby and Tilly. He hurriedly said, "Kids, come over here. I'm begging this miracle doctor to treat my mother. Don't make him angry."
Truthfully, the shop owner was a bit wary of Toby and Tilly.
After all, how many children in this world could casually fork out a million dollars?
Toby turned to him and said, "I'm here to treat your mother."
"Huh?" The shop owner was stunned for a moment before forcing a bitter smile. "I'm already worried sick. Don't joke with me right now."
Previously, when Toby mentioned treating his mother, the shop owner had assumed he meant bringing in a doctor.
But now that Toby was saying he would personally handle the treatment, the shop owner was utterly bewildered.
A child? What could a child possibly know about medicine?
"I'm not joking," Toby said seriously, meeting the shop owner's gaze. "Didn't we agree that if I treated your mother, you'd give me the emerald for free?"
Although he had already bought the emerald for a million dollars, who would willingly spend that kind of money if they didn't have to? After all, making money wasn't easy.
"You..." the shop owner was at a loss for words.
He rubbed his forehead and turned to his wife. "Take these two kids away for a bit," he said.
His wife was about to lead Tilly and Toby away when Tilly suddenly planted her hands on her hips, her face filled with anger.
"What's wrong with you? Didn't you say whoever cures your mother gets the emerald for free? So why are you stopping my brother now that he wants to treat her? Are you going back on your word?"
Before the shop owner could respond, Tilly huffed. "Nobody dares to cheat me! If you try to back out, I'll blow up your house!"
The shop owner was at a loss for words.
Where did this little troublemaker come from?
He really wasn't in the mood for jokes right now.
Completely speechless, he ignored the two kids and turned back to Manfred. "Dr. Sandoval, please, I'm begging you to treat her. You'll get every penny you're owed…"
Manfred cast an indifferent glance at Toby. This kid might be young, but he was surprisingly strong. He was about to leave, yet somehow, this kid had stopped him in his tracks.
He said coldly to the shop owner, "I've told you—no treatment without three million dollars. That's my rule, and it was also Shadowbane's."
"Dr. Sandoval, you—"
The owner was about to plead further when Toby suddenly spoke up, "You remember Shadowbane's rules so well. But do you also remember what she said about those who use medicine to amass wealth? That they should have their limbs broken?"
"What does that have to do with you, kid? You'd better get lost, or you won't walk out of here!" Manfred threatened, his voice dripping with malice.
"I'm not afraid of you," Toby said flatly. Then, he raised his gaze, staring at Manfred coldly. "But you... I have a feeling you'll be crawling out of here soon."
Manfred scoffed, letting out a cold laugh. "Oh? I'd love to see how you plan to make me crawl!"
Toby's face remained expressionless. "Wait here. Once I finish treating his mother, I'll deal with you."
"Fine. I'll be waiting!" Manfred retorted.
