Eloise’s POV I stomped away from Xavier’s study in frustration. I knew that Xavier had no real desire to help the Wisdoms but a part of me still believed he wasn’t as cold as he made others believe. Maybe I was foolish to think that a silly little marriage contract would be enough to lift the feud between our two families. Still, there was no denying that I had been right in the things I said during the meeting. Even if Xavier didn’t want to admit that my plan was smart, he could at least admit that the plan was of benefit to him.
