Cassandra Taylor took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves before gently pushing open the CEO’s office door and stepping inside. The spacious office was sleek and sophisticated, done up in shades of coffee brown. Every piece of furniture looked understated yet screamed luxury, emanating a quiet elegance without going overboard. She stopped about two meters from the desk made of expensive rosewood, her voice sounding a bit too proper as she addressed the man behind it. “Good morning, Mr. Blackwood. I’m here to report for duty.” Back when they were just friends, his presence didn’t faze her much.
