Chapter 707

Could it be that my brothers didn't send an invitation to Brother Frederick, and he doesn't know about this yet? Jane pondered for a moment and felt this was highly possible! She wiggled her short little legs and climbed off the bumper car. "Sis, play by yourself for a bit. I'm going to take a break and come back later!" With that, she trotted off on her tiny feet to the rest area. After settling into a seat, she took out her phone, carefully angled the camera to frame her little face just right, and then video-called Brother Frederick. The call connected instantly. "Brother Frederick, where are you?" Jane asked excitedly, only to realize he was in a massive conference room. Behind him, she could faintly see a slideshow and several sharply dressed executives who clearly looked like top-tier professionals. Feeling a bit awkward, she flashed a sweet smile and was about to greet him before hanging up. But then, on the screen, she saw Brother Frederick gazing at her with gentle, picturesque eyes, his voice warm as he said, "Jane, I'll come find you right away. Wait for me." Though the words themselves weren’t particularly special, her heart skipped a beat without warning. A second too late, she nodded and replied, "Okay, I'll wait for you." With that, she quickly ended the call. Just then, she spotted a somewhat familiar yet unfamiliar figure talking to her brothers in the distance. Curious, Jane walked over. As she got closer, she realized it was actually Brother Huan though he looked completely different from when she first met him. His once milky-white skin had now turned a deep, sun-kissed bronze. Excited, she was about to rush off and tell her sister the good news when she saw Brother Huan turn back and, with gentlemanly grace, help a golden-haired, blue-eyed girl out of the car. Hand in hand, they walked intimately toward her brothers... Jane's short legs carried her forward almost involuntarily until she stood blocking Huan's path. Tilting her small face upward, she asked, "Brother Huan, who is this sister?" Huan's smile remained as warm and bright as ever when he saw Jane, but his words rooted her to the spot. "Jane, let me introduce you. This is my girlfriend, Maia Philip." Maia bent slightly at the waist, extending a friendly hand toward Jane. "Hello, Jane. I've heard so much about you from Huan. To be honest, I thought he was exaggerating how could anyone be as adorable as he described? But now that I see you, you're even more charming than he said!" Jane stared at Maia's outstretched hand, then shifted her gaze to Huan, whose expression remained unchanged. Her mind went blank, leaving only one thought echoing inside her. *I can't let Sister know that Brother Huan is back. And I absolutely can't let her find out about this woman named Maia!* Her face hardened, and her large, obsidian-dark eyes glowered at Maia. "Today is my birthday party, and you're not welcome here. Please leave!" Without waiting for Huan to respond, she turned her sharp gaze on him. "And you—I don’t want you here either. Leave right now!" Maia blinked in surprise, looking to Huan for guidance. Still holding her hand, Huan maintained his gentle tone. "Alright, Jane. Since it's your special day, you're the boss. We won’t ruin your fun. We’ll go now." Jane's eyes burned with resentment as she watched Huan and Maia walk away and climb into their car. Behind her, the four Wallace brothers, and the others—exchanged bewildered glances, completely baffled by Jane's outburst. Lucas, assuming her anger stemmed from Huan dating at a young age, tried to explain. "Jane, Huan has been in the U.S. lately. Things are different there it's perfectly normal for someone his age to be in a relationship." Jane muttered sullenly, "Brother Lucas, you don’t need to defend him to me. Who he dates is none of my business. Grandpa Walter and Grandma Vivienne are gone now our families have nothing to do with each other anymore." Her voice turned firm. "From now on, no matter what happens in our family, don’t ever invite him again!" John noticed the rare look of disgust on Jane's face and immediately agreed without hesitation, "Alright, from now on, no matter what happens in our family, we won't invite him anymore." Just as Jane was about to go find her sister, Mina came running over in a hurry. Seeing Jane's gloomy expression, she instantly frowned and rolled up her sleeves. "Jane, who was here just now? Who on earth dared to upset our birthday girl today? Tell me, and I'll go teach them a lesson!" Afraid that her brothers might have already told her sister about Huan bringing his girlfriend over, Jane quickly forced a smile and said, "No one came!" But realizing how unconvincing her lie was, she glanced at the newly delivered barbecue grill and the freshly set-up dining table nearby. She then furrowed her brows again and added, "Actually, it was just a bodyguard uncle delivering food. I'm just mad that my brothers and Harold still haven't shown up to celebrate my birthday with me!" At this, Mina's eyes flickered with a hint of guilt. She quickly took Jane's hand and said, "Don't be upset, sweetie. When those two finally get here, we'll make sure they pay for keeping you waiting!" "Okay, I won't be upset!" Jane nodded emphatically and followed her sister back toward the racetrack. Yet, her mind was still preoccupied with thoughts of Huan and that girl. She had no idea why Huan had suddenly gotten a girlfriend and even brought her home. But she knew this wasn’t something she could hide from her sister forever. What would happen when her sister found out? Thankfully, her sister wasn’t like her she was still just a child. Though kids these days matured early and already understood what "liking" someone meant, their feelings were never set in stone. She could only hope that if Huan stopped contacting her sister, she’d forget about him soon enough.
