Chapter 1922 The Grand Meeting
The Creeds controlled the majority of the sects that were present at the meeting. Their presence made the meeting appear fairer on the surface, but the Creeds were the ones who could call the shots.
Previously, the community had the Nine Great Creeds, but Tyr had destroyed the Balch clan. Since the East clan surrendered to Regal Palace, they were no longer involved with matters concerning the community.
Although Regal Palace was newly listed as a Creed, the organization didn’t interfere with the ancient martial arts world’s matters because of Tyr.
Furthermore, two clans of the nine Creeds, the Haiges and Wallers, preferred to remain neutral, sothey did not participate in the meeting officially. Their senior members did not show up, but they sent a minor representative to sit in the meeting.
Aside from the Whites, the four major Creeds that Regis mentioned last night were the only ones who could wield power.
The Meyers, the Reids, the Fryees, and the Wrights. The four clans resembled four hungry wolves.
They walked into the villa after getting out of the car. Tyr and Dillon knit their brows as soon as they walked through the door.
“Have you sensed it as well?” Tyr asked in a low voice when he noticed Dillon’s reaction that was similar to his own.
“Yes. There is a Demigod in our vicinity. In fact, there’s more than one of them,” Dillon said as he came to a halt in his tracks.
“Haha! It appears that those clans have come fully prepared this time,” Tyr sneered. “Even the Demigods who previously withdrew into seclusion have quietly emerged. They’ve made up their minds to devour your family.”
Dillon’s expression was tinged with disdain. The duo decided not to reveal Dillon’s cultivation level in advance before they went back to the manor because they wanted to wait for this moment. Dillon was curious to see which clan coveted his family resources.
They planned to suppress everyone here with their absolute strength. They wanted to make the entire community understand that not everyone could afford to provoke their family even if Eldrian was no longer with them.
For those who had their eyes on the White family, there was only one consequence that befell them; they were going to vanish. Some members of the other Creeds were already waiting for them when the group entered the villa.
One by one, the representatives of the four great Creeds arrived at the conference hall. The hall was quite noisy as several people were engaged in a heated discussion. The meeting had yet to start, but many people were already green with envy. Some people expressed their thoughts and desires without filteringtheir words, and openly discussed how to divide the power of the White family.
The White family executives, led by Regis and Olympias, entered the hall at this point.
Tyr and Dillon stayed outside. They remained outside the hall with the purpose of figuring out what these people were up to. Dillon would not hesitate to pull out his sword if the meeting was unfavorable to his family.
“Regis, you are finally here! Hurry up and take your seat.”
Olympias was the family’s matriarch, yet no one in the room paid attention to her. Furthermore, they treated her as if she were invisible. Although Regis had already stepped down as the patriarch, he was still the head of his family in the eyes of everyone present.
Regis was greeted by an old man of similar age. He greeted him with a smile as if he had known Regis for years.
The current patriarch of the Reids family was Ackley Reid. Regis had known Ackley for years, but none of the Creeds in power were friends. When they had the chance to get together, these guys always had hidden agendas and often schemed to set each other up. It was exactly what would happen today.
Regis was well aware that these people were the same as wolves, but he showed no signs of fury. “Hey, Ackley. It’s been a long time,” he said with a smile.
“Hahaha! Yeah, it’s been quite some time since we last met. I was abroad when something happened to you the last time and couldn't return on time. I was up all night because of what had happened to you back then. I didn’t expect the event to turn out to be a false alarm.”
Clearly, Ackley was referring to the incident in which Regis had faked his death. Those who were unaware of the situation would assume that Ackley was genuinely worried about Regis based on his distressed appearance.
However, the community was well aware that Ackley was a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
“Hahaha! My family was in turmoil, and I need to clean the house. It’s my bad for making you worried about me.”
“Well, it’s all right as long as you’re fine.” The two continued to chat as they walked to their seats.
One after the other, Regis was also greeted by several patriarchs. Some of them were from Regis’ generation, while others were a generation younger who were already the heads of their own families.
The meeting officially began once everyone had arrived.
Corin Meyer, the patriarch of the Meyer family, was in charge of hosting today’s conference.
His clan was now among the community’s top three. The Meyers were said to have two Demigods - Chilton Meyer, the forefather, and Corliss Meyer, the younger Demigod. Corliss had broken through twenty years ago, and he was now approximately eighty years old. For a demigod with a life span of 200 years, Corliss was considered to be in his prime at the age of eighty. His achievements were truly impressive.
With two Demigods, the Meyers were truly powerful. Thus, their clan was ranked among the top three in the community.
Now that the meeting had officially begun, the initially raucous scene, which was filled with heated debates, had subsided.
The main goal of today’s meeting was to deprive the White family of the title of Creed. Many of the family’s forces and resources would be exploited once they lost their title. Hence, everyone present would discard their disguises and dignity.
“Regis, Eldrian’s recent fall was a loss not only for your family, but also for our community. His demise is absolutely heartbreaking, so before we begin the conference, I’d like to express our condolences to your family.”
Regis nodded slightly and said, “Death is natural, since it’s the fate of mankind and the cycle of life. It is the fate of Eldrian, and we can’t really force it to go the other way.”
“Since Eldrian has fallen, the pattern of the community will definitely change dramatically afterward. Senior White, you know the rules of our community,” said Dace Fryee, the Fryee family’s patriarch. “The first requirement for a family to become a Creed is that they have a Demigod. Your family’s Demigod has fallen. Thus, your family is no longer eligible to hold the title of Creed without a new Demigod to take his place. Hence…”
