The moment I stepped into The Hideout, the bass pulsed through me like a second heartbeat. The air carried hints of expensive liquor and recklessness—two things I was learning to love again after years of restraint. My fingers tightened around my fire-engine red clutch as I scanned the room, spotting Kaia's familiar smirk from across the booth.
