So, to ease their worries, I softened my tone. "I'm not. Didn't Elsa tell you I went with Eric?" Upon hearing Eric's name, Mom's and Dad's expressions immediately brightened, their earlier worries dissipating. "Oh, if it's Eric, that's a different story. He's really looking out for you." Mom pulled me close, her curiosity barely contained. "Did he buy you that evening gown, too?" I nodded, not bothering to hide the truth. When they heard this, Dad seemed pleased, but Jack just scoffed in disbelief. "You're not even divorced yet and you're already flirting with other men? How shameless can you be?"
