Chapter 37 Encountering Her Senior Again

Lyla shook her head as she tried to ignore the shiver that she felt before she fled decisively. She returned to her seat and took the design she had drawn. Then, she left the company and went straight to J.P. Corporation. Since she had already made an appointment, she did not need to waste time after she arrived in the company. The secretary led her directly to the president’s office. “Mr. Pattinson, the representative from M.K. Corporation has arrived,” the secretary informed him. Arden Pattinson was busy reading some documents. He casually replied and raised his head after that. “Lyla?!” There was a look of joy on his handsome face. “Mr. Pattinson.” Lyla smiled politely and greeted him. “You don’t remember me anymore?” It was obvious that Arden was slightly disappointed. “Of course not, Arden.” Lyla smiled. She was just a little shy in front of the secretary. Arden waved his hand to ask the secretary to leave. Then, he suddenly remembered something. “Serve us two cups of coffee.” Following that, only two of them were left in the spacious office. Arden observed Lyla closely. The woman in front of him had become more beautiful than before. She was wearing a yellow chiffon blouse and a pair of white capri pants. She had on some light makeup on her fair face, which made her appear fresh and clean. His mood became inexplicably better once he saw her. “Long time no see, Lyla,” Arden suddenly said. As Lyla looked at her former senior, she felt that he had become wiser and more mature than before. Time could really change a lot of things. The previously bright and warm boy had transformed into a seasoned and reliable company president now. “Yeah, Arden,” Lyla said emotionally. “Come and have a sit,” Arden said to Lyla. Lyla smiled and sat opposite him. “When did you come back? Why didn’t you contact me after you came back?” Arden asked a few questions in a row. “I came back last week. I was busy looking for a house and a job, so I didn’t have time to contact you.” There was a smile on Lyla’s face the entire time. Arden had been Lyla’s senior in university. Back then, Arden was the student council’s president. Lyla was a member of the student council too, so they had a lot of contact. At that time, Arden was recognized as the best looking guy in Cassel University while Lyla was the best looking girl. Arden fell in love with Lyla the first time he met her, but because of Lyla’s cold personality, she always kept people at arms’ length and shied away from close relationships. Therefore, Arden had no chance despite his deep admiration for her. After that, they never met again once Lyla left. His love for her was reignited now that he had met her again after such a long time. Arden stared at Lyla closely until she looked down in embarrassment. “Lyla, you…” Just as Arden was about to say something, the secretary knocked on the door and came in to serve them two cups of coffee. The office was silent for a moment. “Arden, I’m actually here on behalf of M.K. Corporation this time.” Lyla broke the silence first. “Oh? You’re working for M.K. Corporation now?” Arden frowned in surprise. “That’s right.” Lyla did not understand why Arden had such a reaction when he heard that she was working for M.K. Corporation. Nonetheless, she still handed over the design and information calmly. Arden lowered his head and flipped over the design. He saw the smooth lines and beautiful design. Every stroke seemed artistic and lively. Even though the design was within Arden’s expectation, he was still astonished by it. “If I’m not mistaken, this is the necklace.” Seven years ago, Lyla had seen his mother’s necklace by chance at his birthday party. At that time, she had a keen interest in designing, and Arden even explained it to her in detail. Little did she expect that it would come in handy now. “It’s been seven years. I didn’t expect you to remember it.” Arden nodded. “Beautiful things are always unforgettable, and I’m fond of jewelry design.” “You have a good memory. Will you do me the honors of dining together with me? We can talk about the old days.” “Sure.” Lyla felt bad about declining when Arden extended such an invitation.
