Chapter 50 Lullaby

"Elizabeth, he taught me what it means to be mates who give each other the courage to be better than they are, to protect each other no matter what, to love each other no matter what, to make each other feel like anything is possible." She gave me a kiss on the forehead. "Everyone deserves a second chance. We all have flaws, and we all make mistakes after all, we're half human, aren't we?" She laughed and said, "Your father gave me a second chance to redeem myself, grow up again and start again. I realized that second chances are not about making things right, but about proving that we can be better even if we have once failed. Sometimes two people have to fall apart to understand how much they need to get back together." A comfortable silence surrounded us for a few minutes. "Will Dad come back to us?" She laughed and said, "Oh, he'd better, or I'll go and bring his nasty ass back to where he belongs. I'm not done with him yet."
