Gabriel stopped in his tracks and glanced sideways. Roxanne had a gentle, harmless smile on her face. I'd seen this expression on Roxanne countless times. It always earned her a great response from others. In comparison, it didn't matter whether I was crying or smiling, acting distant or trying to please others.
