Reagan strode forward with wide, purposeful steps, his breathing steady and unfaltering—as if Giselle in his arms weighed nothing at all.
When they entered the private room, Adam still lay face down on the floor. No one knew if he was dead or alive.
The two other men were pinned to the ground by bodyguards, unable to move an inch.
Reagan settled onto the couch, and Giselle instinctively curled into his lap.
With a subtle gesture, a sleek, short knife landed in his palm. Gently, he pried open Giselle's clenched fingers and slipped the blade into her hand. His lips brushed her earlobe as he whispered, "Do whatever you want to, Gilly Pop."
A shiver ran through her body. She wanted to act—but this wasn't self-defense anymore. If she moved now, it would be intentional harm.
Reagan seemed to read her hesitation. He lightly patted her cheek. "Mr. Simmon… will take responsibility for whatever happens."
