As Cody stepped forward, he pulled out a few bills from his wallet and set them down on the counter.
The moment the receptionist saw Cody, his expression shifted instantly. A fawning smile spread across his face as he swiftly handled the check-in and personally led them to the elevator.
Inside the elevator, Yvette was still fuming. "Who does he think he is, talking to me like that? So what if I didn't tip him? What a jerk!"
Cody reached out and tousled her hair gently. "Don't let someone like that ruin your mood. We're here to enjoy ourselves."
But despite what he said, he couldn't stop thinking about Whitney.
He remembered the time he had accompanied her to Leflein for an art exhibition. She had worn a wine-red evening dress and conversed fluently with the gallery manager in smooth Lefleinian. The grace in her gestures had drawn the admiration of everyone around them.
