Chapter 451 Attending the Party

After Janet heard what he said, she stared at him suspiciously. “Really?” Liam raised an eyebrow. “Janet, are you aware that your current behavior makes you sound like a jealous woman?” Janet instantly blew her top. “Get lost! You’re the f*cking jealous woman, your entire family are jealous women!” She reached out to push him away as she spoke, but he grabbed her hand. She felt much better, for some reason, and laughed softly. They stayed out pretty late before returning to their hotel. Liam went to Maxine’s party for a quick round, then came back. He did not stay there for long. Janet realized, based on his attitude, that it was truly just a formality. She was more satisfied after that. They slept until the next daybreak. Early the next morning, Janet got up. She was heading to the living room with her cup to get some water when the door cracked ajar. She forced her drowsy eyes open and saw Liam walking in. Liam had woken up early and finished his exercise by now. His undershirt clung to his sturdy body, which gave off a musky smell. When he saw her standing there, he said, “Go get changed. I’ll take you skydiving later.” Janet turned around and stared at him, flabbergasted. After some time, she pursed her mouth and asked somberly, “Mister, we’re finally on vacation. Don’t you need to rest?” “Nope.” Very well then! She was overly concerned over nothing. Janet agreed wordlessly to his suggestion and returned to her room with water. After thirty minutes, they were ready and started out the door. In the past, Janet had always enjoyed thrilling sports like bungee jumping and skydiving. Therefore, her friends had never regarded her as someone feminine. She did not expect that this celebrity mountain resort would have a sport like this as well. Although it was of the most rudimentary sort, she was still ecstatic. After playing the whole morning, Liam brought her to a high-end music restaurant for a seafood feast at noontime. The resort was massive, with quite a few restaurants. This one specialized in seafood. At the entrance, there were two large tanks with two young seals. They were perky and cute, looking extremely lovable. Janet suddenly recalled the small fish she and Liam had caught the night before at the lake. On their way back to the hotel, Liam bought a small fish tank for the fish. After returning to her room, she had put it on the window sill. When she returned later that night, she had not checked on it because she had something on her mind, so she did not know if it had died. Upon entering the restaurant, both of them picked a table. Janet only asked for a serving of seafood porridge, leaving the rest for Liam to order. He quickly ordered a few of the restaurant’s signature dishes. They sat down to wait for their food. Janet drank her tea and asked abruptly, “You’re finished with your work?” Liam inspected her. “Who told you that I came here for work?” “Didn’t you have a client meeting yesterday?” He quickly frowned. “It was something last-minute.” After some thought, he added, “For these few days, just let me know if there’s any place you’d like to visit. Since I happen to have the time, I’ll take you around.” Janet was slightly stupefied upon hearing this. Why did she feel as if she was being overwhelmed by fond attention? At this point, the two figures at the door caught her attention. It was Harvey and Luna! Janet grimaced slightly. Why were both of them here? When Luna saw her, she gave Janet a friendly smile. Nonetheless, when her gaze shifted to Liam sitting opposite Janet, there was an inevitable shift in her expression. However, Luna quickly resumed her usual composure. In an apparently deliberate manner, she moved around to block Harvey’s sight. She pointed at a table on the other side. Harvey nodded and the two of them walked in that direction. Janet’s expression flickered slightly. Even so, she did not bother them further. She knew that there was friction between Harvey and Liam, so she pretended like she had not seen them. Unexpectedly enough, upon finishing their meal, Luna suddenly halted after making her way to the exit. Then she turned around, retrieved two invitations from her bag, and walked over to hand them to Janet. “Miss Hancock, there’s a celebrity party tonight, hosted by us Grahams. I hope you and Young Master Liam can make it.” Janet accepted the invitations, stared at them, then glanced at Liam. Seeing that he had no intention of refusing, she said, “Alright! We’ll go.” Luna grinned, then walked out. One moment Luna was going off, and the next moment Janet was asking awkwardly, “Hey, do you really want to go?” Liam raised his eyebrows. “You don’t wish to?” Janet chuckled. “It’s not that. I just think it’s a little strange. Plus, I think she had something else in mind. Inviting me was just a cover—she actually wanted to invite you.” After all, the previous time, Liam had embarrassed Harvey. No matter how magnanimous Luna was, she could not possibly bear him no grudge. The reason she invited them, first of all, was Liam’s identity. After all, he was the one currently wielding the power in the Griffin family. He had an influential position in the business world. If he joined the party, it would certainly liven things up. Secondly, the Griffin family commanded various docks and channels of land transportation. The Graham clan had grown rich through the industry. Many aspects of industrial transportation would have to go through the Griffin family. If they could establish a positive relationship with Liam, this would only benefit their future business. To put it plainly, no matter how much Luna liked Harvey, she was also a businesswoman who would prioritize profit. At one glance, she would pick out the most profitable option, at least for now. Liam looked at her. “If you don’t want to go, then we’ll forget about it.” Janet was at a loss. “Huh? No, it’s not that I don’t want to go.” He raised an eyebrow, evidently thinking that she was faking it. Janet pouted. After a pause, she said, “Actually, we might as well go take a look. In any case, we don’t have anything to do tonight!” Liam chuckled softly at this, tossed his invitation to her, and got up. “Let’s go!” Janet was momentarily blank. She did not think they would go so soon. She hurried behind him and asked, “Where are we going?” “Aren’t we going to a party? Did you bring an evening dress?” “I didn’t! But—huh? You’ve paid the bill?” “A long time ago!” “Oh.” —— There was a place in the celebrity resort that had a pedestrian street and a shopping area, featuring every famous brand one could think of. Janet followed Liam into a French luxury store. The store was not large, but all their clothes were this year’s latest fashion. At once, Janet was attracted to a black dress with a plunging neckline that was studded with tiny red diamonds. She pointed at the dress and said, “Take that down for me so I can have a look.” Liam frowned. The store clerk smiled and took the dress down, saying, “Young lady, you have an amazing taste. This dress is a brand-exclusive style, launched by Jane herself. At present, there’s only one of these in the whole country. Moreover, you have such fair, delicate skin, which will set off the red and black very well.” Janet excitedly took the dress, measuring it against her body while she looked at Liam. “How’s this? Does it look good?” Liam was still frowning. He reached out abruptly and took a sky-blue dress off the rack. “Buy this one.” Janet, “…” How much did this guy like the color blue! The store clerk was clearly very discerning. She turned her gaze and noticed that, between the two of them, Liam obviously had more say in this. Therefore, she promptly beamed and said, “This dress is called ‘Dream’. As the name suggests, it represents the sweetness of dreams. The young lady looks to be rather young, so this dress will suit her age well.”
