Serena turned her head at the sound and saw waiters crowding around the table she and Matthew had just left. A few of them looked genuinely terrified, their faces twisted in panic. The restaurant manager yelled in a rush, “Call an ambulance! Now!” “I think it’s her... Should we go back and check?” Serena stopped walking, her face pale as she grabbed Matthew’s hand. Matthew stared straight ahead, his expression cold and unreadable. Part of him wanted to walk away and not look back—but it was Vivian. The one person he’d spent his life trying to avoid, and somehow never could. He pressed his lips together, then turned and quickly walked back into the restaurant.
