CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY FOUR – INDISCRETIONS OF THE PAST
"Oh, there you are at last!" Sofia's airy voice washed over Kayla in the lobby of her hotel. "I've been hoping to catch you before you were off for the day."
She turned to see the stylish woman making her way through the crowd, two crystal flutes of chilled white wine in hand. Sofia pressed one into Kayla's palm with a conspiratorial wink.
"I think you've more than earned a small reprieve from the daily grind, wouldn't you say?" Sofia said with a roguish grin. "Join me for a nightcap?"
Kayla didn't need to be asked twice. She readily followed Sofia through the plush hotel bar to a secluded corner table, sinking into the overstuffed armchair with a contented sigh.
"You're a miracle worker, Sofia," Kayla said appreciatively after taking a reviving sip of her wine. "I can already feel the stress over today's mishap with the projector melting away."
"Trifles and nonsense, darling," Sofia chuckled. "That's all just blips on the radar in the grand scheme of things, I assure you."
