CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TEN – RUNNING FROM THE COPS
"We should find a place to crash for the night," Florian said, stifling a yawn. "We both need rest."
They found a small motel off the highway, paying cash for a room. As they settled in, the adrenaline of the day finally wore off, leaving them both exhausted.
Cassie curled up next to Florian on the bed. "Do you think we'll ever stop running?"
Florian stroked her hair gently. "One day. I promise. We'll find a place where we can just be us."
As they drifted off to sleep, neither noticed the black SUV that pulled into the motel parking lot.
The next morning, they were jolted awake by a pounding on their door.
"Florian von Steiner! We know you're in there. Come out with your hands up!"
Cassie and Florian exchanged panicked looks.
"The bathroom window," Florian whispered urgently. "It's small, but we might be able to squeeze through."
They grabbed their bag and rushed to the bathroom. Florian boosted Cassie up, and she wriggled through the tiny window, dropping to the ground outsid
