CHAPTER FIFTY SEVEN – TAKING A LIKING TO HER
Frida's eyes twinkled with interest. "Ah, so you're the new addition my son mentioned. How are you finding your first day?"
Cassie hesitated, unsure how to respond. "It's been... educational."
Frida chuckled. "I'm sure it has. Why don't you leave that tray here? I'll have someone take care of it. Come, walk with me. I'd like to show you around properly."
Confused but relieved, Cassie set down the tray and fell into step beside Frida.
"So, Cassie," Frida began, "tell me about yourself. Where are you from?"
"Chicago, born and raised," Cassie replied. "I grew up in foster care, actually."
Frida's eyebrows rose. "That must have been challenging."
Cassie shrugged. "It had its moments. But it taught me to be resourceful."
"I can see that," Frida nodded approvingly. "Resourcefulness is a valuable trait in this household."
As they walked, Frida pointed out various artworks and artifacts, sharing anecdotes about each piece's history.
"This vase," she said, gesturing to an ornate blue
