I was practically swimming in muck. Black, sticky, smelly muck. "Disgusting," I said as I pulled myself out of it onto an even murkier shore. "Oh goddess. What exactly is this place?" I asked as I pulled myself out of the dirty, stinking, and murky water onto the equally murky land.
"Fractured," I said. "Most just have a small place that signifies where they feel safe the most. This is a beach."
"Beaches in Russia? Yes, but surely you wouldn't have been living next to it. St. Petersburg doesn't have a beach. Wait," I stopped in my tracks. "Does it?" I asked, tapping my chin as I continued to climb up. "Or maybe a lake." I walked further and further inward, stopping suddenly. "Hello!" I called, ensuring to keep my voice pleasant and simple. "Well, there's nothing there," I said, standing around and waiting for what felt like an eternity.
