Chapter11:
Silvie’s POV
‘Silvie’, huh? Kyle wasn't calling me Miss. Bates, at least for now. That was a good sign, right? Definitely.
“The food’s here,” I commented innocently and picked up my soup spoon, ready to start digging in.
“Yes. But I feel we’re ignoring a huge elephant in the room?”
“Hm?” I feigned nonchalance. He was going to point it out, wasn’t he?
“What happened to your shirt?” Ah. There it was.
“I got it wet by accident while washing my hands and a kind waitress was willing to lend me a change of clothes.” I basically parroted the excuse April gave me, word for word.
Kyle tilted his head, eyebrows lifting slightly. “Really? I’m not sure how washing hands leaves your entire shirt looking like it just took a swim.”
“The water pressure from the tap in there is crazy, hahahaha…” The laugh sounded so stiff and robotic to my own ears that I cringed.
Kyle cleared his throat, his gaze pointedly fixed on his own plate. "Quite the... bold choice for borrowed clothes, don’t you think?"
