Without hesitating any longer, Natalie picked up her glass of champagne and strode through the crowd in her heels, completely ignoring Hailey's spiteful glare from behind.

Emily slid the fruit platter in front of her a little closer to Natalie. On it were neatly arranged premium grapes, each plump and translucent.
"I noticed you haven't touched any of the food available. Is it not to your taste? They'll be serving caviar tarts before the auction starts. The restaurant that makes them is highly regarded in Jerrington. I'll have an attendant set aside two portions for you."
Natalie sat down beside Emily, placing her champagne on the edge of the table.
As her fingers lightly brushed the cool glass, she said with sincerity, "Thank you for earlier, Ms. Sutten."
