Chapter 25

ELIZA’S POV My fists balled by my sides as we walked up to the dining table. What was I thinking? What were we thinking? Alexander may have proposed to me a few days back but that wasn't enough reason to get... unprofessional with him. My thoughts were spiraling and with the ensuing silence between us, I was certain the thudding of my heart could be heard a million miles away. I peeked over my shoulder and our eyes met. He opened his mouth to speak but as if deciding against it, he chewed on his teeth and looked straight ahead. 'Me too, Alexander. Me too.’ I muttered to myself not knowing how to express or assemble the thoughts in my head. It wasn't often that Alexander was at a loss for words but last night's events had clearly thrown him off balance. As we neared the dining room, the familiar chatter in the room enveloped me, throwing me back to the memories I have missed; me, my parents, my brother, my father's beta, my mom's right hand woman and a few other warriors from our pack.
