Chapter 66
Charisse's fever finally went down the next day, hovering just above 37 degrees.
Still, the nurse kept advising her to stay a couple more days, just to be safe.
But that afternoon, she got a call from Hannah—her voice was all over the place: "Charisse, where are you? Can you come to the hotel now? There's a guest trying to jump! We can't talk him down, I think it's serious!"
"Jump?!" Charisse responded while already swinging her legs off the bed. "Did you call the police?"
"Already did, but he's still there, right on the edge of the rooftop. He looks like the wind could knock him off any second." Hannah's voice cracked with panic.
The rooftop... Luna Heights Hotel had over fifty floors. If he jumped—it wouldn't be just falling, that'd be a one-way trip to the morgue.
Charisse's tone sharpened. "Keep him calm. I'm on my way—just don't agitate him. Loop the same thing over and over: 'Don't jump.' Nothing else. Don't bring up family, relationships, anything personal, got it?"
