I looked around, alarm ringing in my head. Jack was now sitting on the ground, supported by his car. People were talking to him, most probably enquiring. But their words didn't seem to reach him. He sat there like a stone. I took a step towards him but stopped as my son's crying image ran into my mind. I turned around prepared to go to Dan. My mother stopped me. "We'll take care of him" she said "but" "He's a child, you can coax him later. That human needs you more" I nodded apprehensively. I walk to Jack and lower myself "Let's go for that drive" I touched his arm lightly. He jerked away, looking at me with wide eyes as if in a trance. I let my hand fall to my side.
