Chapter 15
Caleb was silent. From the other end of the line came Miranda's sobbing, her fear wrapping around him like invisible ropes, choking him.
The responsibility he felt toward her—born from their past—was etched deep into his bones. In the end, it outweighed the unfamiliar emotions surging through him.
He shut his eyes, and when he opened them again, his usual calm mask was back in place. Yet beneath that calm stirred an undercurrent of emotions—a tempest he was currently blind to.
"Miranda." His voice was steady and carried a strength that instantly put others at ease. "Don't be scared. Lock your door and wait for me. I'll be right back."
He ended the call swiftly, then turned to Dylan. His tone was firm, without hesitation. "Book the earliest direct flight back to the country."
"Got it, Mr. Solt," Dylan replied, unsurprised by Caleb's decision. He immediately carried out the order.
On the way to the airport, Caleb leaned back in his seat as he massaged his throbbing temples.
