Gregory waited for a full minute, but no one answered the call.
His expression darkened. This situation had never happened before.
Cassandra was supposed to pick up his call immediately. Always.
Drawing in a deep breath, Gregory slipped his phone back into his pocket. "That's enough for today. We should head home now."
His voice was flat, stripped of emotion, and the enthusiasm on his face had visibly cooled.
They boarded a shuttle bus to the exit of Ocean Park. The ride took barely 20 minutes, yet Gregory had checked his phone at least five or six times. Still, there was no call back from Cassandra.
By the time they neared the exit, his patience had worn thin. He called her again. This time, she picked up—after more than ten seconds.
"Hello?"
"Where are you? Why didn't you answer my calls? And why didn't you call me back?" Gregory rarely spoke with such coldness and displeasure.
At that moment, Cassandra was sitting in a cab. She almost laughed at his barrage of questions
