Scarlett’s POV
I stood downstairs outside Katelyn’s newspaper office, hiding behind a car parked across the street, my eyes fixed on the tall glass window.
The light inside the room spilled out warmly onto the pavement, a cruel contrast to the cold curling in my chest.
Then I saw him.

He was holding her.
His arms wrapped around Katelyn like she was something precious, fragile, irreplaceable.
