Chapter 81: Terrifying

Demi My heart was beating so hard. My eyes didn’t leave Ryder’s growing dragon frame as he flew closer, gaining speed with every massive thrust of his giant wings. I heard Drake’s body fall to the ground. I heard his heart stop pumping, but still, I didn’t look away. I didn’t want Ryder to be here. Though I knew he would come, the fear of something happening to him again creates a pain within me that could never be mirrored or overshadowed by anything else. The loss of Drake would linger forever. Sorrow was a heavy feeling, but there was another feeling in the atmosphere, bloodlust. It’s accompanied by a static energy fueled by not only Ares anger and aggression, but Ryder’s as well. Energy produced from this much anger and aggression has been building for years. This is the most dangerous energy there is. It can become its own kind of power. It brings the fight between Ryder’s parents and Hades to the front of my mind. The one where together they created the new flame to defeat him. M
