Chapter 70 It Was All a Lie
When the banquet ended, Alessandro didn't return to the estate.
He went alone to a private bar in the city. There was no noisy music there. All it had was dim lighting and liquor.
He gulped down glass after glass of whiskey. The liquid burned as it slid down his throat and into his stomach, but it couldn't suppress the frustration he felt.
He kept replaying the scene at the banquet, with Lucia's impassive gaze and Elena's clumsy fake fall.
Details he had deliberately neglected in the past began to emerge. Elena was materialistic and rude to the maids, and she also showed a vulgarity that Alessandro found jarring.
