Mr. Johnson sat behind his desk, twirling a Montblanc pen between his fingers as he focused on a proposal.
"Dad, you asked for me?" Liliana stepped up to the desk.
Marsha trailed in right behind her, flashing a sweet smile. "Dad."
Taking off his glasses, Mr. Johnson got straight to the point. "The company's looking at a new construction project that's linked to a plot of land Wilson's company just developed. Have a word with him—see if he can let us take on the project."
"Dad, you should really speak to Wilson yourself about this," Liliana replied. She knew if she asked, Wilson wouldn't turn her down.
Mr. Johnson's friendly face hardened. "What kind of attitude is that? We're family. What's the difference between you asking or me?"
"There is a difference," Liliana didn't hesitate. "You asking means it's business. That's how it should be."
Mr. Johnson slammed his hand on the desk. "Family shouldn't be so caught up in what's business or personal—it's all the same."
