"I... I..." The man stammered, drenched in sweat, fear written all over his face.
Staring at Alexander and Elizabeth, he finally realized he'd messed with the wrong people.
"Talk. Now. Or I won't be so nice next time."
Elizabeth pulled a small knife from her pocket—cold, sharp, and gleaming.
The man began to shake. "Okay! Okay! I'll talk! Someone hired me, please don't kill me!"
"Oh?" Elizabeth cocked her head and lightly pressed the blade against his neck, leaving a faint scratch. "Ten seconds. Who sent you?"
"I really don't know! I swear!" he cried. "She wore a mask and disguised her voice. I only know it was a woman!"
Elizabeth didn't move. "Keep going."
"If you keep lying, you'll lose that hand of yours."
Terrified, the man widened his eyes, certain she'd stab without a second thought. "I'm not lying, I swear!"
He was used to doing low-level dirty work for cash, but nothing like this. This girl was scary.
