When Jeremiah brought Elaine back to the Scott residence, it was already past 12:00 am. As the car pulled up outside the wrought iron gates of the villa, Elaine, who had been silent the whole way, finally said, "Maybe we should wait here for a moment." She hadn't been back in two years. She knew Agatha and Eric had moved here too, along with the entire Scott family. She wasn't quite ready to face so many people at once. It wasn't because she had grown distant from her grandmother, brother, or the Scotts after two years apart. It was because she felt estranged from this version of herself.
