Elaine didn't flinch. She looked at Skylar calmly and said, "Forget about slapping me. Even if you held a knife to my throat, from this moment on, don't expect me to bow my head or apologize to you or Thea.
"Skylar, the matter of Eric's death hasn't been resolved. If the police don't find the truth, I will. One day, I'll make Thea pay for his life."
Skylar's hand hovered mid-air. He frowned, but ultimately, it didn't strike her.
Elaine turned and walked out without hesitation.
Thea rushed to stand in front of Skylar, panicked. "Skylar, what does she mean? I didn't do what Mr. Montgomery said. And Eric's death—why would she say that it was my fault too?"
