Chapter 62

Eileen's POV The days after the battle passed in no time and the pack's rebuilding work progressed smoothly. I spent my days helping to reinforce the border defenses, working alongside Amber and the other pack members. Amber was a bundle of energy, always laughing and joking as we worked. I couldn't help but smile as I watched her, her playful nature infectious. Her eyes sparkled with mischief as she teased the other pack members, her laughter ringing out and cheering people. At one point, Amber decided to try and lift a log that was bigger than she was. She strained and grunted, her face scrunched up with effort, but just as she was about to lift it, she lost her balance and stumbled. I rushed to catch her, but before I could, a tall brunette guy swooped in and caught her, holding her safely in his arms. "Hey, hey, careful there princess" he said with a smile and I looked up at him thankfully. I had gone white in fear at the thought of amber hurting herself. "Thanks," I said, smiling
