Chapter 11
After Carson left, he didn't go to the office. Instead, he found a bar and started drinking.
By chance, he ran into Isaiah Thornton, an old college classmate. Carson's fists clenched instinctively at the sight of him.
"Carson? Isn't today your wedding day? Why are you out here drinking?" Isaiah walked over with a glass and sat down across from him.
Carson had already had a few drinks, and his mind was growing hazy. "Isaiah? When did you get back? Weren't you supposed to be in grad school abroad?"
Isaiah adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses and smirked. "I came back after graduation. I heard from the class group chat that you've been doing well these past few years. Today's even your wedding day. So why are you here drinking alone and drowning your sorrows?"
There were things Carson didn't want to talk about, and Isaiah had enough tact not to pry.
"Forget it," he added. "We haven't seen each other in years. Come on, have a drink with me."
