Harvey had obviously never seen me angry before, and it left him stunned for a long while. In his eyes, I had always been the docile sister-in-law of the family, and I behaved even more meekly in Jack's presence. He had never known the real me. The way I behaved before had just been an act I put on in order to please Jack. Now that I thought about it, Jack had probably long seen me as Hannah's substitute while I remained oblivious to it. It wasn't until I had wasted years of my most precious youth and lost my child that I finally came to my senses. Perhaps in their eyes, our relationship over the past four years had been wonderful and not worth having a falling-out over.
