“Oh my God,” I whispered. “Aaron,” I said, grabbing his hand. He looked calm—too calm. How could he be so composed? I shot out of bed. “What are we going to do now?” I asked in a hushed voice. Aaron stood up and pulled on his trousers. A knock echoed again. “It’s Jack,” I whispered, panicking. “Aaron, what do I do?” “Relax,” he said, pointing to the balcony. I rushed over and stepped outside. He quietly shut the door behind me and went to open the main door. Jack walked in. “What the hell is he doing here?” I muttered under my breath, trying not to breathe too loudly. “What’s wrong, Jack?” Aaron asked, keeping his tone casual. “Uncle… Is Ivy okay?” Jack asked, eyes wide. Aaron blinked, feigning confusion. “Wha—what are you talking about, Jack?” “I just… heard she was upset.
